  1. Society’s stereotype of a farmer is not good. Young people are generally not willing to become “farmers.” This perception needs to change for younger people to be willing to farm.
  2. Not everyone have land to farm. There needs to be some way to acquire cultivation areas. If it is to rent from land owners, then, it is additional costs. Some technologies like vertical farming (or maybe others that you know) may help.
  3. In addition to land, farming equipment is an issue. Heavy equipment are expensive. Upfront crowdsourcing for sure won’t cover full equipment costs. We need to have some way to either reduce the costs of equipment – sponsorship, technologies that required less equipment, leasing option?
  4. In order for people to be willing to farm, the overall benefits need to be higher than them traveling to cities. So, we need some computation to show all benefits and costs of different types of city work versus different types of farming. Then, compute the break-even point to see if the business model has enough benefit to encourage farming.
  5. We need better understanding of plant-to-harvest cycle to see understand if crowdsource farming will work – if people are willing to wait for the cycle – or we think of different crowdsourcing model.
  6. China already have some home cooking services available. So, our efforts may either set up our own network or tie up to those existing services.
  7. Need additional market studies to understand at what higher price points are our target customer segments willing to pay for “certified” safe and honest quality produce.
  8. How to manage the risks of our farmers will produce what they promised to? What if they don’t – either because of uncontrollable events like bad weather or maybe the farmers just squandered the money.
  9. Target customers pay for a premium to get quality products. How to make sure our farmers deliver the quality products? What if farmers take shortcut to gain higher margin but eventually discredit our platform?
  10. How much impact can the platform produce? What would be the estimated demand and supply?
  11. What is the tipping point of supplier and producer to make the platform sustainable? How do we get there and how long do we need to get there?
